In this three minute podcast, I discuss and read from the ever-insightful and wildly amusing G.K. Chesterton who helps us consider who the true “freethinkers” are. Give it a listen here. (Be sure to click on the word “pod” to start listening).

  2. Chesterton had great insight and is always a good read.

There is no such thing as Free Thinking because God is in total control of the results of our choices. Since man’s condition is focused on what he considers to be in his self interest (Is. 53:6) he really has nothing of value to think about until he accepts the fact that he must become a slave to God’s thoughts. This is the power of Romans and the Gospel message. I know those that I would call old fashioned liberals who seemed to really believe that as we allowed people to be “free” and became free of religious restraints, that man could respond and achieve his potential for good because the good that dwells within will be able to be expressed. I also know many of them who now realize this was a pipe dream and have left the Democratic party. What they are seeing in people like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and President Obama is that the issue has been from the start, POWER. “You shall not surely die.” Yes they will and we know that because reality is God’s spoken word and man will conform to it or he will face the fact that he is not a He but a he. But, sadly, many of them still hold to the idea that man can achieve ‘success’. It can be difficult to recognize our need. History provides so much evidence of the true nature of man. But cherished beliefs are seldom subject to evidence. And those who demand freedom will not easily accept that the beginning point of being free is to become conformed to thoughts already in place. They are so sure of their view that they will justify the elimination of those who will not conform to their idea of freedom–as it appears we are about to find out in this country.
